nOS is master scheduling software. Here’s each screen, from course requests to the finished schedule.
Ask students what they want to take.
Send students one link to a request form. They enter their ID, name and grade on a phone or computer, with no account, and see only what their grade can take. Prerequisites and “any one of these” groups are checked before they can submit.
Teachers recommend the students in their own class from a link of their own, and picks that need your approval wait in one list. Answers reach the workbook with each student’s ranks, backups and chosen term.
Your data goes into a workbook that checks it as you go.
Import from your student information system or a spreadsheet, and nOS matches the columns and sorts everything into six editable sheets that re-check as you type. A problem shows on its cell with the same fix Preflight offers, so a course nobody teaches turns up now, not after the build.

Refresh without losing your edits
Pull again and only what the source changed comes in. Your own edits stay; where both sides changed a field, nOS asks which to keep. Column mappings are remembered.

Terms, rotations and A/B days
Use semesters, trimesters, quarters, A/B days, rotating cycles or flex blocks. A fall class and a spring class in the same period don’t count as a conflict.
Only the columns that matter
Columns you use, and any your file needs, show first. The Columns menu shows or hides the rest. Hiding a column never changes your data.
Pick names, not codes
Choose a teacher, room or term by name. A blank cell says what it means, such as “Any grade” or “All year”.
Change many rows at once
Select rows and set a value on all of them. You see every change first, and one undo takes it back.
Write rules as sentences, for one class or a whole department.
Type each rule on its own line, the way you’d say it to a colleague. “Must” makes it a requirement; “prefer” lets it give way when that places more requests. In Schedule Studio, a new rule changes the schedule you already have, moves only the students it has to, and waits for you to apply it.
Things you can say
You can cap a course, keep a teacher’s period free, keep two students apart, or keep AP Physics and AP Chemistry out of the same period. A rule can name a grade or a team, as in “Seniors have lunch P5”, or give a room to a department. You can also give a teacher a minimum number of classes, or keep teacher loads balanced.
The five build goals
Max Fulfillment, the default, places as many requested courses as possible. The others even out class sizes, even out the gender mix across sections of a course, give older students first pick, or balance size and gender together.

Results shows fulfillment overall and by grade, every student’s day, every roster, and how close the build came to the most your data allows. It’s read-only, so you can hand it to a department head.
No course requests yet? Turn on Teachers only and nOS schedules your teachers and classes first. Results then counts Classes ready: classes staffed, placed and free of double-bookings.
Then fix what’s left, worst first.
Studio lists the remaining problems worst first, with the evidence for each one. Open one and it offers up to three measured options, each saying who gains a seat and who loses one. Use one or make the change yourself; it is staged, and nothing is final until you apply it.

Drag a section and nOS flags any conflict as you move it. Colleagues appear live, and you can follow one around the schedule.
